Once in a lifetime salvage job – Academy for Girls in West Virginia

As you are reading this, Doc is at a once in a lifetime salvage site!  The property is a former all-girls Academy, an independent Catholic school founded in 1848 by the Sisters of the Visitation.  The school’s middle and secondary programs were the only all-girls secondary school in the state of West Virginia.  It is 187,000 square feet of pure architectural bliss.  Doc has been given the rare chance to have first pick of what this historic property has to offer.  Ornate hardwood flooring, grand entries, stair cases, unique plumbing fixtures, massive chandeliers, thousands of square feet of intricate tin ceiling, and so much more.  Doc will be on the property until September 23rd, so check out the link below and let us know if you’re interested in any of the salvaged pieces. This place is truly breathtaking…

Call Doc to put a “hold” on what you see.  He will be available for the next two days exclusively by cell phone 317-590-8296.

Just look at a sampling of the stunning architectural elements and antique fixtures this girls’ school has to offer…

New store hours = wider online selection!

We have a bit of good news for those of you who tend to recede to the warm depths of your home during the cold winter months ahead.  We are reducing the days and hours we will be open this holiday season.  Why? you might ask…to give our staff the opportunity to add new store inventory every single day, giving you a better selection from which to choose.  Not only are we expanding the selection in each current category, but we are adding completely NEW categories of merchandise, as well!

It’s time to open your virtual wallet and SHOP!

New Store Hours

A new addition to the family…

We would like you all to welcome our newest addition to the Architectural Family; her name is Nash.  We plan on fixin’ up this 1954 vintage Rambler and making her a mascot for the salvage business. As you can see, all she needs is a fresh coat of paint…a new interior…an engine, brakes, tires.  Really, she needs a full-body makeover.  Check out the pictures below!

Doc loves his bucket-of-rust.

Very Cool Shout-out in the Indy Star

Read this morning’s paper yet?  All of us here at Doc’s want to thank Julie Cope Saetre of the Indianapolis Star for giving us a very cool shout-out in this morning’s paper.  In A sampling of local shops,”  Julie wrote:

“Doc’s Architectural Salvage & Reclamation Services, 1325 W. 30th St., (317) 924-4000. Formerly White River Salvage, this Indianapolis classic stocks architectural finds salvaged from older homes and buildings from around the country. If you’re refurbishing a vintage house, this is your spot for lighting fixtures, hardware, stained glass, plumbing fixtures, mantels — even restored wood flooring.”

Thank you very much, Julie!  Come in on a Saturday and have a Long’s Bakery doughnut (or two…or three…) with our team!
